Born on 26 December 1822 at Dublin, Ireland, the son of John Smith Taylo(u)r, land owner, and his wife Ellen, nee Bridge. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin (B.A.,1845). Curate of Ilchester, Somerset (1849-50). Arrived at Melbourne on 24 June 1851 per "Elizabeth" from Adelaide, South Australia. Appointed to St. Andrew's, Brighton, in 1853. He married on 4 January 1853 at St. James, Melbourne, to Ann Goodwin. Retired in 1889. His wife died in 1900. Lived with his daughter at Vermont, near Mitcham. Died on 27 January 1918 at St. Andrew's Hospital, Brighton, or 9 Thomson Street, Gardenvale, Victoria, and was buried on 28 January 1918 at the Boroondara Cemetery, Kew, Vic.
