Born on 27 May 1819 at Clyst St. Mary, Devon, England, the third son of the Rev. Thomas Strong. Educated at Oxford University (B.A.,1841; M.A.,1846). Pastoralist in partnership with Henry Foster at St. Mary's, Port Fairy (1842-51). Arrived at Melbourne on 28 February 1842 per "Pathfinder" from London, England. Returned to England, possibly departing Sydney in March 1844 per "Bucephalus" for Bombay, India. He married on 28 September 1848 at St. Michael's Parish Church, Pembroke, Wales to Elizabeth Davies, daughter of Morgan Davies, Esquire. They arrived at Melbourne in 1849. At St. James', Melbourne. A Masonic chaplain. Left for London, England, in March 1852 per "Northumberland." Rector of St. Paul's, Chippenham, Wiltshire in 1855. Still there in the 1881 census. Died on 22 September 1900 at Tugela Glen Road, Boscombe, Dorset, England.
