Born c1804 at Dublin, Ireland, the son of William Jones Singleton, merchant, and his wife Mary Quinn, nee Lewis. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin (B.A.,1826). He married, c1833, at Dublin, Ireland, to Frances Truelock, daughter of William Truelock and his wife Georgina, nee Gratham. Ordained deacon in 1841 in Tuam, Ireland. Curate at Finglas in 1848. Arrived at Melbourne on 28 October 1849 per "Tasman" from London with his wife and family, having acted as religious instructor for the shipboard immigrants en route. Shortly after arrival he was posted to Kilmore where he spent many years. Was later posted to East Brighton, and also Cheltenham, Vic. Died on 13 June 1875 at his residence, Victoria Street, Brighton, Victoria, and was buried on 15 June 1875 at the Melbourne General Cemetery, Carlton, Vic.
