Born in 1808 at Longton, Staffordshire, England, the son of Richard Simpson. Converted at the age of 17. Entered the ministry in 1830 and was appointed to New South Wales. At Port Arthur, Van Diemen's Land. At Launceston (1838-40). Arrived at Melbourne on 30 November 1839 per "Henry" from Launceston and departed on 30 December 1839 per "Wallaby" for Launceston. His wife Sarah died at the Mission House, Launceston, V.D.L. in March 1844. Returned to England c1844. Ministered on various English circuits to c1865. Retired to the Channel Islands. Died on 20 July 1878 at Upland Road, St Peter Port, Guernsey, Channel Islands and was buried at Guernsey, Channel Islands.
