Rev. EDWARD GIFFORD PRYCE

(1814-1904) ( Church of England )

Born on 26 August 1814 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England, the son of Edward Pryce, merchant, and his wife Eleanor, nee Gifford. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin (B.A.,1837). Ordained in Ireland. Arrived at Sydney, New South Wales on 21 April 1840 with his sister per "Clyde" from Liverpool, England via Rio de Janiero, Brazil, South America. Appointed firstly to Wiseman's Ferry parish. Later at Braidwood. At Maneroo/Monaro, N.S.W. in 1844. Overlanded to the Gippsland area of the Port Phillip District in 1845 and 1847. He married on 30 May 1849 at Maneroo/Monaro, N.S.W., to Emma Weston, eldest daughter of Edward G. Weston of Horsley, near Liverpool, N.S.W. Incumbent of Christ Church, Cooma, with the Maneroo District in 1859. Later at Gegedzerik, N.S.W.; Bendigo, Vic.; and Daylesford, Vic. Died on 18 June 1904 at his son's residence, 'Bellfield', Rossmore, near Liverpool, Sydney, N.S.W., and was buried on 20 June 1904 at Rossmore Cemetery, Sydney, N.S.W.
