Born in 1801 on Arran, Buteshire, Scotland, the third son of Archibald McKenzie, farmer. Educated at the University of Glasgow. Licensed by the Presbytery of Kintyre on 5 October 1825. Ordained on 6 September 1832. At Oban. He married on 2 May 1833 at Kilmore & Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland or Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Scotland to Ann(e) Shaw of St. George's Parish, Glasgow. His wife probably died c1841 in Scotland. Appointed to West Tamar, Van Diemen's Land, in 1842. Arrived at Melbourne on 7 November 1842 per "Ellen" from Glasgow, Scotland en route to V.D.L. with his three children. Resigned at the end of 1845 and returned to Scotland where he joined the Free Church. At Kildalton and Oa, Scotland, in 1847. He married secondly, in 1847, to Marion Hunter. Sometime minister at Islay, Inner Hebrides, Scotland. Died on 2 March 1871 at Port Ellen, Isle of Islay, Argyllshire, Scotland.
