Born c1788 at Coleraine, Londonderry, Ireland. Missionary in South Africa from about 1813 to 1815, and in Ceylon from about 1815 to 1835. Returned to England. Arrived at Sydney, New South Wales early in 1836 as Chairman of the N.S.W. District Meeting. At Parramatta, N.S.W. (1840-43). Visited Melbourne, arriving on 25 February 1842 per "Seahorse" from Sydney. Left in March 1842 but made a return visit in September 1842. Became a supernumary in 1847. Died on 31 October 1847 at his residence, Stanmore, near Sydney, New South Wales, and was buried on 3 November 1847 at the Wesleyan Burial Ground, Sydney, N.S.W.
