Born 1810 in London, England. Educated at Hoxton Mission College. Ordained at the Union Chapel, Islington on 27 September 1832. At the Blackfriars Road Church, London. Appointed to the Pitt Street Independent Chapel, Sydney, in 1832. He married on 17 June 1834 at Mrs. Anne Russell's residence, Elizabeth Street, Sydney, N.S.W., to Mary Anne Russell, daughter of Capt. Bourne Russell of the ship "Lady Rowena" and his wife Anne, nee Mackroth. Resigned c1838. At Baldock, Hertfordshire, England from February 1840 to March 1841. Went to Van Diemen's Land c1841. Minister of the Independent Chapel, Hobart, V.D.L. Visited Melbourne, arriving on 19 August 1846 per "City of Sydney" from Launceston, V.D.L., and decided to join up with local United Presbyterians. Returned here with his wife and family in December 1846. Stationed at Geelong. Later at Melbourne. At Daylesford from 1862-64. Editor of the "Argus" newspaper for a short time. Left the colony per "Swiftsure" for London, England in 1867. Later went to America. Died 18 February 1883 at Hulmeville, Bucks County, Pennsylvalia, United States of America. Buried on 24 February 1883 in Beechwood Cemetery, Bensalem, Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States of America. His widow died on 19 June 1884 at East Melbourne, Victoria.
