Born in 1811 and baptised on 21 July 1811 at Burbage, Leicestershire, England, the son of Benjamin Hurst, (nurseryman?), and his wife Elizabeth, nee Dudley. Entered the ministry in 1835. Appointed to the Newport Pagnell Circuit, Buckinghamshire. He married in 1837 at Hinckley, Leicestershire, England to Ann (Ward?). Arrived at Hobart, Van Diemen's Land in March 1838 per "Seppings". Arrived at Melbourne on 22 October 1839 per "Henry" from Launceston, V.D.L. Joined the Rev. Francis Tuckfield at the Buntingdale Mission Station to the Aboriginals in 1839. Later at the Wesleyan Chapel in Collins Street, Melbourne. Went to Sydney in August 1842. In Melbourne again in 1846 and 1847. Sometime resident of Surrey Hills, Sydney. Died on 5 January 1857 at Goulburn, New South Wales, and was buried on 7 January 1857 at the Goulburn Cemetery, N.S.W.
