Born on 6 October 1796 at Britford, Wiltshire, England. He married on 22 November 1821 at Amesbury, Wiltshire, England to Sarah Truckle, daughter of George Truckle and his wife Betty, nee Damlick. Teacher. Arrived at Sydney, New South Wales on 24 September 1838 per "Elizabeth." Arrived at Melbourne on 3 January 1839 per "Hope" from Sydney as Assistant Protector of Aborigines for the Goulburn River District. Did missionary work at Geelong and was a magistrate. Became ill and sailed for England. Died on 3 May 1846 on the "Arab" about 150 miles from Land's End and was buried at London, England.
