Born on 11 January 1824 at Killinear House, Bandon, County Cork, Ireland, and baptised on 23 January 1824, the son of Dr. John Beamish, M.D., and his wife Maria Teulon, daughter of John Teulon of Cork. Educated at Trinity College, Dublin (B.A., 1846, M.A., B.D., D.D., LL.D., 1877). Arrived at Sydney, N.S.W. on 26 July 1847 per "John Fleming" with his lifelong friend, Francis Thomas Cusack Russell. Both were ordained deacons on 19 September 1847 at St. Andrew's Church, Sydney by Bishop Broughton. After conflicting with Bishop Broughton on points of church doctrine and discipline, Beamish and Russell came to Melbourne, arriving on 16 March 1850 per "Diana" from Sydney. Appointed to Warrnambool in the Western District in June 1850. There for 45 years. Made Archdeacon of Warrnambool in 1878. He married on 6 August 1856, at Mount Shadwell to Isabella Mary Bews, daughter of Capt. John Bews, paymaster of the 73rd Highlanders and his wife Mary Elizabeth, nee Reid. Returned for a visit to Ireland in 1877. Archdeacon of Warrnambool from 1878. Died on 20 August 1914 at the residence of his son-in-law, Mr. J. Alfred Johnstone, Stanhope Grove, Camberwell, Victoria, and was buried at the Boroondara Cemetery, Kew, Vic.
