Rev. ROBERT BUCHANAN SCOTT

(c1813-1889) ( Presbyterian )

Born c1813 and baptised on 3 July 1813 at Peebles, Peebles, Scotland, the son of William Scott, farmer, and his wife Isabella, nee Boyd. Arrived at Melbourne on 18 February 1851 per "Duke of Wellington" from London, England as an advanced student and was ordained on 16 July 1851. For a few years he did a considerable amount of bush pioneering and evangelistic work over an extensive circuit visiting Donnybrook; Bacchus Marsh; Woodend; Kyneton; etc. He married on 13 March 1856 at the United Presbyterian Manse, Broadmeadows, Vic., to Elizabeth Maria Bryan, daughter of Henry George Bryan, revenue officer, of London, and his wife Catherine, nee Osborne. They settled at Carlsruhe, near Kyneton. Was minister at Carlsruhe till his retirement in 1877 and continued to take an interest in the church till his death. Died on 15 June 1889 at Carlsruhe, Victoria, and was buried on 17 June 1889 at the Kyneton Cemetery, Vic.
