REV. GEORGE OTTER

Born on 10 April 1803 at Bolsover Castle and baptised on 11 April 1803 at Bolsover, Derbyshire, England, the son of the Rev. Edward Otter and his first wife, Amelia. Educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University (B.A.,1826: M.A.,1829). Ordained deacon on 13 October 1827 and priest on 21 September 1828. Perpetual curate of All Saints', Newmarket, Cambridgeshire (c1833-37). He married on 23 January 1838 at Wood Ditton, Cambridgeshire, England, to Mary Ann Wedge, daughter of the Rev. Charles Wedge, rector of Burrough Green, Cambridgeshire. Posted to Green Ponds, Van Diemen's Land, in 1845. Arrived at Melbourne on 9 October 1848 per "Raven" from Launceston, V.D.L. Visited Melbourne again in December 1848 and May 1850. Returned to England. Curate of Whaplode Drove, Lincolnshire (1859-62). Vicar of Hucknall Torkard, Nottinghamshire (1862-79). Minister at Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire in the 1881 census. Died on 23 November 1884 at Radcliffe on Trent, Nottinghamshire, England.
