Rev. FREDERICK MILLER

(1806-1862) ( Congregational )

Born on 8 March 1806 at Hackney, London, England, the son of Henry Miller, librarian with the Bank of England. Educated at Highbury College, Islington, London. He married on 7 February 1830 at St. John's, Hackney, London, England, to his cousin, Elizabeth Miller. Ordained in April 1830 at Hackney. Arrived at Hobart, Van Diemen's Land, in September 1830. Opened a chapel in Brisbane Street, Hobart, on 20 April 1832. Arrived at Melbourne on 3 November 1841 per "Agnes & Elizabeth" from Hobart and again on 25 February 1843 per "Seahorse" from Launceston. Ministered briefly at the Independent Church, Collins Street, Melbourne. Visited England in 1861. Died on 13 October 1862 at his residence, Murray Street, Hobart, Tasmania and was buried on 16 October 1862 at the Congregational Burial Ground, Hobart, Tasmania.
