Rev. SAMUEL EDWARD BLOOMFIELD

Born on 22 April 1823 at Shooter's Hill, Kent, England, the second son of Sir Thomas William Blomefield, Bart., of Brighton, Sussex, England, and his wife Salome Kekewich, daughter of Samuel Kekewich of Peamore, Devon, England. Educated at Trinity and Christ Colleges, Cambridge University (B.A., 1847). Arrived at Melbourne on 24 January 1848 per "Stag" from London with Bishop Perry's party. Ordained deacon on 3 June 1849 at Christ Church, Geelong. Ordained priest on 25 May 1850 at St. James', Melbourne. Curate of St. Peter's, Eastern Hill, Melbourne (1849-52). He married on 23 April 1850 at Christ Church, Geelong, to Jean (Jane) Abigail Macwhirter, youngest daughter of Dr. John Macwhirter of Geelong and late of the Bengal Establishment, India. Chaplain at Vevey, Switzerland (1853-60); curate of Kingwinsford, Staffordshire (1860-62); curate of St. Clement Danes, Strand, London (1865-66); vicar of Knottingley, Yorkshire (1866-69); vicar of North Somercotes, Lincolnshire (1869-83); rector of Burnham Sutton and vicar of Burnham Overy (1883-1903). Died on 18 May 1903 at Burnham Sutton, Norfolk, England.
